The Norske Trail provides a primitive cross country ski or snowshoe experience to outdoor adventurers in winter months, while hikers, photographers, fishers, and wildlife enthusiasts enjoy the summer and fall climate seeking solitude and a splendid display of autumn color. This trail passes through mixed hardwood/softwood forests and over a variety of terrain as it enters the Breadloaf Wilderness. Much of the trail is gradual ups and downs with several extended elevation changes on the western side of the trail. You can continue your hike by connecting with the Catamount trail on FR 59 or return to Vermont Route 125. The trail begins and ends on private property; please be respectful of the owners.

Trailhead: From Rochester, head north on VT-100 N. Follow 100 N for about 10 miles. The Middlebury College Snow Bowl will be on your left. There’s a pull off just before the entrance to the Snow Bowl where you can park. The trailhead for the Norske Trail is a 5 minute walk uphill on Rt. 125 from the turnoff to the Snow Bowl at Middlebury College.
