Reopening of Warren VT 100 Bridge 166

Warren VT 100 Bridge 166 opened at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 16. VT 100 is now open to traffic. The bridge, which is located on VT 100 over the Mad River, approximately 2.5 miles south of the Town of Warren, is part of the Rochester/Middlebury/Warren Bridge Projects, a combined effort to replace six structures in a single construction season.

Bridge 166 over the Mad River was replaced using accelerated bridge construction methods, which involve building bridge components offsite and erecting the bridge onsite to reduce construction time and minimize traffic delays. “The accelerated bridge construction techniques used for Bridge 166 are a perfect example of VTrans strong effort to reduce construction costs and environmental impacts on our State bridge projects,” noted Rob Young, VTrans Project Manager. “A new bridge in less than 12.5 days is an amazing feat.”

With the road open, it is available for two-way traffic. Minor delays for activities, such as paving, will limit traffic to alternating one-way traffic controlled with flaggers.
